Meet the committee

After a 44 year career in nursing, I retired with my husband to France in 2014 although we'd had a holiday home here since 2003. Our house was nearly derelict when we bought it but now it's finally (nearly) renovated. I enjoy most crafts, including sewing, crochet, hand and machine knitting, and 3-dimensional decoupage. I love amateur dramatics and have had the pleasure of working alongside many enthusiastic amateur actors both in the UK and here in France. I live in Paule with my husband of 48 years and have two sons in the UK and a daughter living in USA.

I was born and raised in Portsmouth and worked in European logistics and then property management. I moved to St Aignan with my wife, exchanging city noise and bustle for a large garden and a quieter life in rural Brittany, and now juggle my time with my alter-ego "George the gardener". I follow football in general, Pompey in particular, as well as being a cricket lover. I've been a member of LTA since 2015, more involved back stage than on the stage, happy painting scenery or up a ladder. More recently, I have made a few stage appearances.

My husband and I moved to France in 2006 with our three cats to enjoy a quieter rural life in St Aignan, although I do miss my season ticket for Portsmouth Football Club! A long time ago, I somehow managed to win the title of Miss Liss in a Hampshire Beauty Pageant, before taking up amateur acting, playing a wide range of roles from Olivia (in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night) to Maligna (the wicked fairy in LTA's Sleeping Beauty)! I love reading, like to think of myself as a kitchen goddess and I'm an armchair winner in game shows such as Pointless and The Chase.

I came to France in 2007, after a career in Social Work in Hertfordshire and Cornwall with children with disabilities and Looked After children. I grew up in South London and was within a bus ride of the Old Vic, where I saw almost every play that Shakespeare wrote. My treat when I passed my 11+ was to see Paul Schofield in Hamlet!Brittany is the fourth French Department that we have lived in and it may not be the last. I live in Mellionnec with husband Alan, dog Tommy and numerous felines. |
